I don't have a Disco, never have done, always wanted one. Had a Freelander some time ago; now "between cars".

Seen a 2000 Millenium TD5 Auto with 100,000 miles on the clock. Reasonable tax, MOT etc - £3,995. My heart is saying go, go , go. My mind (and my missus) is saying I'll probably regret doing this and spend the rest of my days wishing I'd bought a pushbike. Why do Landies make you feel this way ? Am I worrying about nothing or are they really labour of loves ?

You 've got until Friday to talk me into or out of it !!

CD

PS Just dropped on the forum, it's great, what a community. I've just spent the last hour surfing threads about old landies when I should have been working !! Oh well, it's started already.

wat i would do is by a older one rilly cheap like i did i got a 200tdi for £500 with 57,000 on the clack with full seves histy nd now im put a 300tdi front end on it nd i spean the reasd on get it lifted nd new wheels nd wat ever eles i need to use it off roading so for me it a win win way

Milage is a touch higher then id like but about right for the age.Have you seen any other motors to compare it too?

I had a Daimler Double six (5.3 V12) before I bought my first Disco, it was so quiet and comfortable you wouldn't believe. I kept it for a few weeks just incase I didn't get on with the Disco. Now I am on my second Disco. I think that says something. If you get it and don't feel the same way as I did, then sell it and what have you lost? If you don't get it you will never know..:welcome:

you're in the wrong place if you want us to talk you out of buying it... try a 'ramblers forum' for that.

however, if you want us to talk you into it... just ask:D:D

once you own a disco no matter how good or bad it is you are hooked! i sold my first one coz it was a parcel but as soon as it went i regretted getting rid of it and bought another. im on my third one now and when this one dies i will buy another!

100 000 miles on a 2000 disco isnt that much really. dunna think about it get it ! if ya regret it you can always sell it on and if you tidy it up a bit you shouldnt loose owt !

I reckon it sounds a bit dear too!! Disco's are not selling at all well irrespective of how it looks on ebay - if you watch for a few weeks you see the same cars come back on again & again.

I would be bidding more like £2500, to settle at between £2750 & £2950 - if it's really good and with good history, 1 or 2 owners. If it's not then it's current marketplace value is more like £2000.

Good luck (at the right price)

Dave

I seen an 02 Disco XS 4L V8i LPG Auto with 80,000 on the clock go on ebay for 4 grand yesterday.

I used to own a K reg BMW 325i coupe individual until i had more kids and was forced to buy a people carrier or a Disco, I bought a 1996 Discovery XS V8i LPG for £1700 a year ago and would have bought that 02 Disco yesterday if i could have afforded it I think that speaks for itself.

Be warned there are good and bad ones out there, get a good one you will be hooked, get a dog and you'll never go near a disco again, oh yeah and i hope you like getting yours hands oily from time to time.

i got a 94 disco with 150.000, took the head off today to retrieve a broken glow plug, all original hone marks are still there, good engines but as mr nice you do get oily sometimes
