Ooo... looks interesting... so it appears you DO have to make a trip to the dealer to have it coded if you replace it.

Reading through that, (and knowing BMWs, having owned a few) - it MAY be worth pulling the power supply fuse for the SAS, or disconnecting the battery (it may have more than one power supply route) and try to force it to recalibrate? You'd have to make sure the wheels were in the exact straight-ahead position before doing either.... just a suggestion, and don't really know if it would cure the problem or not... but free, and may be worth a try?
Thats this afternoons job....

Gonna disconnect the battery wait 20minutes, reconnect and then recalibrate the SAS....see what happens.

Also gonna pull the wheels off and look at the ABS sensors too....

As for returning to the Dealer, whilst he was a nice bloke, my P38 was showing signs of failing, Blender Motors knackered, Wouldn't go into First Gear, A/C system while working would make a racket, steering wheel not truly centred, Sometimes the windows wouldn't work, rattled and shook over bumps....

So if I went back and he has driven my P38, he may want my blood too...!!!

he probably had a dealer to take your old bucket off his hands, after all he did admit to earning a fortune out of the car he sold... well i hope that was helpful then and by disconnecting power supplies it forces car into submission... im off shooting now, so if you need a bullet ... lol
 
UPDATE: (Pictures attached too)

Got home, and waited for the systems to shut down (about 5 minutes - wait fir the Navigation system LED to go out in the boot...) put the bonnet into Service Mode (Raised up vertical) disconnected the Negative Lead, and then left off till the end of the work.

Jacked up Drivers side and Wheel off, had a look nothing untoward I thought, although a bit of wiring looked a bit makeshift, but I have seen alot worse - Wheel back on and off jack...

Jacked up Passanger side and wheel off, everything looks good but there is noticable difference in the wiring quality from the Drivers side, the passangers looks good - Drivers now looks shoody in comparison....Wheel on, Off Jack....

Scratch head....

I'll take the drivers side off again and have a closer look at the wiring....

So up she goes on the jack again....

Wheel off, axle stand placed under Sub Frame tubing.....(Safety First)

Took the Heat shrinked cover off the dodgy looking wiring, and low and behold one of the ABS sensor wires is adrift.....:D:D:D

Remove all the heat shrink and the other wire looks like it is chaffing and worn through the insulation...:D:D:D

Out comes the soldering iron, extension lead, solder and heat shrink tubing....damn, no heat shrink - no matter this is just gonna be a temporary repair in anycase till after the weekend and I can get a New ABS Sensor....

Wires stripped, tinned, soldered together, and covered in electrical tape (I know it looks messy but best I could muster mister....remember its only temporary)

Resecured using cable ties, and wheel back on....

Off jack and with door open and key in pocket - reconnect Battery making sure there are no sparks so do it in one good purposeful move....

Bonnet back into 'Normal' mode, and closed....

Start car with wheel pointing straight ahead....Full turn to the left hold for a second or two....Full turn Right hold for a second or two...back to the centre....(this sets the Steering Angle Sensor calibration datum points)....no bells, no whistles...no warnings...:D:D:D:D

Drove to town, picked up girlfriend, drove around for 40 minutes, no issues.

I do have a slot booked at a Land Rover Service Centre for Wednesday to sort this out, but aslong as the repair lasts over the weekend and I fit a new sensor, I may keep that slot and get them to calibrate the ride height as she seems a tad low for my liking.....

Also to note the Airbags are new, date sticker shows Oct 2011....:):):)

Good to hear you fixed your problem.

Yep those bags are nice and new, me and 1992lse fitted one of those dunlops to my l322 last week, they seem pretty good units do far !

Mine makes me smile everytime I drive it. Even my husband who likes all things reliable and often Japanese says it's the best rangie we've had for handling and driving experience,
Love it, however heart skips a beat if it bongs with a fault.... Still nothings perfect.

Just for info, my mate, who has a L322, had a problem with the steering sensor. It was faulty and bought up the same warnings as Saint V8 had.

He fitted a new sensor, but it wouldn't sync with the ECU. RAVE mentions loading a code in, on speaking to the local indie garage and he said by turning the steering from lock to lock a few times it should sync up.

So he booked contacted the main dealer, from where he had bought the part, and they said it looked like a faulty steering sensor. "Bring it in and we will take a look. If it is the sensor we will replace it free of charge (and install the new one) if not we will just charge you for the diagnostic time (£66.00)."

It turned out to be a faulty sensor and they changed it FOC. What my mate picked up on is this does not seem to be an isolated case of this steering sensor problem.

Just thought you'd like to know.

I don't know - I get a L322, hire a Butler and this is the kind of service I recieve....shame on you!!!

Saint... how is your MPG and LPG system?
LPG System is Fab, BRC system fitted by Tasso in 2011....

Brimmed the tank on Wednesday with 71 Litres (it's a 90 Litre Donut tank), and so far I have covered 200 miles, and the last light on the Gas Gauge (Only 4 of them in the first place) is flashing, so I am guessing there is about another 40-50 miles in it but I will post the exact MPG when I re-brim the tank....

I am guessing around 14.5-15 mpg at the moment....

About right... LPG runs at 80%-90% of your given/quoted/ calculated MPG on petrol

about the worst efficiency but best price.... and its the price of the fuel that makes all the difference....

Be even better in the cold when you can fit more gas in the tank!
