My 03 L322 V8 petrol I brought as a project had a 'cooked' engine which also cooked the ABS ECU. After much mucking about I bought a good used ECU from a diesel L322 and re coded it with BMW Toolset32 to use with the V8. For a day or so after re calibrating the steering angle sensor and clearing all the fault codes with RSW Allcomms, I had no fault indications and I assume all was OK. (the information LCD screen was out of action.)
The next day I started the vehicle and the dash lit up again with 'air suspension inactive' and the ABS fault lights etc - bugger!
The fault codes I have are 'Air suspension ECU CAN bus fault' 'ABS ECU temporary system deactivation' ' Instrument panel ECU EBV (EBD?) fault received from ABS ECU' (I have read on other forums that the EBV may be a red herring related to BMW programming)
From memory, I think that when all was ok, I did not have CAN bus error with the EAS ECU.

So...is the CAN bus error in the EAS ECU causing the air suspension inactive and ABS to be deactivated?
Any thought would be most appreciated.
Thanks.

I have answered my own question.... after my initial code clearing of the good used ABS module, I disconnected the battery to replace the faulty LED screen in the instrument panel and that's when my temporary ABS deactivation / air suspension inactive and ABS fault indication occurred.
A re calibration of the steering angle sensor with RSW Allcomms and all is fine.
RSW shows an 'EAS ECU CAN bus fault' and an 'Instrument panel ECU EBV fault from ABS ECU' but neither of these are preventing the air suspension or ABS from working correctly. BMW INPA shows no faults present in EAS ECU. :)
