Guys,
Today I decided to check out my random EAS high-mode glitch, and found the usual corroded white connectors behind the left & right kick panels. Clearly the left side could be adding to the EAS weirdness, but C357 that goes to the Door Amplifiers is also bad.

I see two solutions:
  1. Replace the connectors.
  2. Remove the connectors, solder the wires together & heatshrink.

Anyone know where to buy the correct replacement connectors . . . or should I simply find suitable automotive 7-way & 13-way connectors ?

Thanks,
Pete

Vehicle Wiring Products Ltd. Suppliers of auto electrical parts.

Thanks Wammers . . looks like there's a good selection of suitable replacements on that site.

Any reason why I shouldn't solder the wires & not bother with connectors at all ?

No as long as you seal them properly, adhesive heat shrink would be good.

Relocating the ECU will not help fix the other connectors behind Left kick-panel. There's corroded connections to the Door Amplifiers that also need fixing !!

. . . but after I remove the connectors & solder these, I will also check the EAS ECU connector under the seat. If that's bad then will consider other options.

why not move them to:D

could you not relocate the eas ecu to somewhere more suitable where it would not get damp
The EAS ECU rarely if ever suffers with damp and moving looms is not practical.
OP, solder and adheasive heatshrink is the way forward assuming you know how to solder properly. You then know it will never fail again.

Update . . . .

Today I got around to cutting out the corroded white connectors & soldering the wiring properly.

I also fixed the smaller connector that contains the balanced audio feeds to Left Front & Rear door amplifiers, plus the Sub. This connector was causing intermittent buzz from the doors.

Also, not only were the connectors corroded, but when I stripped the PVC back, the copper strands inside were also bad . . making soldering properly impossible.

So Google'd for the solution, and found this: How to perfectly clean wires in minutes!!!

Five minutes soaking & fag break later all the wires were ready to solder & heat-shrink.

Final result before tucking all the wiring away.

Still got to test if this fixes the random EAS behaviour, but now I know these are fixed.
