We went to the south of france in the disco with them on doing 85mph on the motorway for hours fully loaded up with no probs. As for noise they aren't too bad for a chunky tyre,not as quiet as an a/t but not half as noisey as a full blown mud tyre,you can definitely tell you've got them on though.
When these wear out I'll definitely be ordering another set

Yeah,2" lift cos I wanted 265/75/16's to fit with no rubbing but they still rub on full twist :doh:

Hmmm..may be worth going 31/10.5 on a 15 inch rim.....saves lift etc

After weeks of Internet research I decided on a set of four Insa Turbo Traction Tracks for my 1995 Discovery 300 TDi. Mostly road use but, like Tarantula, I wanted them to look the part when green laning with the grandchildren. They were fitted one evening, with a lot of trouble because one needed nearly 500gms on one side to get it balanced. Drove six miles home amid tyre noise like the old Army convoys from when I was a lad in the 1950s, and when you ease off it sounded exactly like a jet after it has landed and the engines are winding down. Added to that, when I got in the ruts in the inside lane where the trucks have worn grooves, the steering swooped around like it did in the old days of cross-ply tyres. When I got home, I phoned the tyre fitters and went back at first sparrow's in the morning to swap them for a set of General Grabber AT2s. Another world! I have had two previous sets of General ATs on previous Land Rovers (a Defender 90 and another Disco 1) and they are brilliant and long lastying. I was hoping to save £40 a corner with the Insa Turbos but I won't be trying that again! The blue/white lettering on the side of the tyres is cool, Grandpa!
