Long retired and my present to myself was a 2001 P38 HES 4.0 V8. I love it.

At the age of 73 and on my 10th Land Rover (3 various Series, 2 RR classics, 1 Defender 90 and 4 Disco 300Tdis) I thought i would try a bit of DIY again. Found my socket set is Imperial and even Land Rovers seem to have moved on from those days, so I've just bought a new set in Halfords. Now apparently need a Torx wrench - is that the right word? - so I can remove the driver's seat so it can be rebuilt. It is leather in the ES. But can I find out what is the right tool for the job? Can I H**L!! Might even have to go to the main agents in Chester and ask.

1984 ex-military 109 canvas top. (PROPER Land Rover!)
    Dream Landrover?:
As above - I absolutely love them.
Retired sailor and pig farmer. Hobbies shooting and fishing. I am now on my fourteenth Land Rover, starting with a S1 in 1969 and owning S11, S111 and Defender at various times, as well as two Range Rover Classics, before they were called Classic, (is there a better driving position in the world of motoring?) and, six Discoverys.

I now have a 2001 P38 HSE 4.0 V8 which is, without question, the best vehicle I have ever owned, or even ridden in. I do hope parts and repair skills will last well into the future.

Recently acquired a 1984 ex-military 109 canvas top in super condition and with full working convoy lights. Has an excellent, though smokey, diesel engine fitted but I would really like to return it to the original petrol.

I am to mechanics what Fred Flintstone is to computers, so please be patient with me!
