Bit of a dilemma.......WARNING: this post is long and rambling.

I respect the opinions of those on here....so thought I would open it up for discussion.....

Those that know of me on here, I am a Range Rover nut....I am currently on my 7th.

I have had previously a 3.5 Classic, a pair of 4.6 P38's, a 3.9 Classic, a 2.5DSE P38, a 4.0 P38 and currently a 4.4 V8 L322.......

In our 'fleet' we also have a 1988 Ninety Truck Cab, a 1991 Defender 110 CSW and a 1997 BMW 740. (ignore the fact the BMW looks like it is LHD...it isn't I had to reverse the picture to get them all to face the same direction....cos I am sad like that!)

Fleet.jpg

My wonderful girlfriend owns the Ninety, we both kinda drive the 110, I own the L322 and I own the BMW (and it is a spare care for when the inevitable happens and one of the others is off the road!)

We have a 21 month old daughter who is awesome, And my GF takes her to nursery and back and when they are out together, they take the Ninety.....if they are shopping, they take the 110 or the Range Rover.....

I love my L322 and I love driving it....I also have a very large soft spot for the 110, it is a great drive (it has leather interior from a P38 so it is uber comfortable too). I don't really get on with the Ninety as I find it too much of a squeeze to get in...but it is a great Landy and runs very well, but I rarely do drive it, as it is her car.

The BMW is stonkingly fast and mega comfortable and we have decided the BMW stays as it isn't worth much and it a good 'spare'.

We bought the 110 when we found out my GF was pregnant again and a two seat Ninety Truck Cab wasn't really practical.....unfortunately early on we miscarried, she would like to try for another but it may not happen and we are both in our late 30's now so time is unfortunately time is ticking on.....so it may not happen.

The girlfriend is smitten with the Ninety...it is her dream car and she loves it totally - maybe even more than she loves me!

She also really loves the L322.....and whilst she likes the 110 for the space, it doesn't have the appeal for her....although she does indeed like it.

We can seldom afford to have 4 cars, we certainly don't have the space for 4 cars.....

She would loath to sell the Ninety on the off chance she could get pregnant again, just incase it doesn't happen and she will have sold her perfectly good dream car for nothing!

She has said if we do sell the Ninety, she wants the L322 as nothing else will do.....

I am happy to have either the 110 or the L322....although the L322 is my fav of the two.....

We don't want to sell the L322 even though it is an expensive car to keep/run/maintain, only to find she is pregnant again and then we have to sell the Ninety and then find another L322 which we can't afford to buy.....

We don't really want to sell the 110 and if she is pregnant again, I will take the 110 when she takes the L322......

So we have a dilemma,.....

IF she gets pregnant the plan is to sell the Ninety and she takes the L322 and I get the 110.....

We don't want to sell either the Ninety or the L322 incase one or the other situations occurs.....but we can't really keep all 4 until we know what the future brings....as it could be 2 years before she gets pregnant and carries through...etc.....

What would you do??

Sell the Ninety and hope you get preggo?
Sell the L322 and think you won't get preggo?
Sell the 110 and think you won't get preggo?
Keep all 4 and suffer the costs and see if you get preggo again and go from there?

Sell all of them and get a pair of 'sensible' cars......(never going to happen :D)

Stop being so smug - many people don't have that many motors or women young enough to be fertile! Having said that if you ever sell the 110 then you're definitely the **** you appear to be!

Not trying to be smug.....just stuck...I can't afford to keep them all...one has to go....but we both are stuck on which one has to go....

I am just asking for opinion from those who aren't so emotionally attached to our cars what they would do!

Not being a **** or smug.....I would like to think after being on here for almost 8 years, members will hopefully know me way better than that!

I have a 90, its **** as a family car, I use a Saab for that, sell the beemer and buy a proper car, like a Saab.

Keep the 90
Keep the 110
Flog the L322
Flog the Bimmer and get a more sensible family style car.

Even if she gets preggo, just lay the 90 up, she can drive it again in future whilst you look after a bubba.

You drive the 110. All the time she isn't able to drive the 90 either cos of preggo belly or 2 kids she drives this and you drive the below.

You share the sensible family car you brought with the Bimmer and L322 money when going anywhere else/when other cars are off the road.

Sell the beamer and hope you don't come down with a case of the babbies.
Keep the 90 because she loves it. Or burn it down because she might love it more than she loves you. Tough call, which only you can make.
Keep the RR because you love it. Then sell it because a Disco is better. Each to their own, different strokes, arguably six of one, etc., but come on, grow up, be sensible, and don't put the chelsea tractor before the mule.
Keep the 110 because, and then keep the 90 some more.

Sell the L322, it's bland and can easily be replaced.

You've modded the 110 to make it more comfy, the 90 is 'hers' and the beemer ain't worth anything other than to you as a reliable car, simply 'cos no-one wants them any more!

Stop being so smug - many people don't have that many motors or women young enough to be fertile! Having said that if you ever sell the 110 then you're definitely the **** you appear to be!

You, sir, are a jealous moron. Back under the rock you go.

I have a 90, its **** as a family car, I use a Saab for that, sell the beemer and buy a proper car, like a Saab.

I'd agree with this. Get rid of the Beemer and get a Saab 9-5 Aero. No point selling the 90 as she loves it. The 110 has been pimped sufficiently to be a comfortable car and it looks stunning. The L322 has had quite a bit of work done on it and you've got it to a point where it's more reliable (touch wood) than previous. The only wildcard is the BMW which, as the 'backup' doesn't make sense any more as the RR or the 110 would do - wouldn't think both would be out of service at the same time!

7 series is worth bugger all now but is the right size for a family car.

Another child, a must, being an only child is horrible.

90 is too small for > 1 child.

110 is modded

L322 is dream car

You are stuffed.

Only one you could easily get rid of is not worth getting rid of.

Late 30s is not too old to be a parent.

The Beemer is clearly not worth selling, as it's only worth anything to you (Although it appeals to me, as I don't really drive anywhere). You could possibly just run it into the ground.

Sell the L322 because it's going down in value.

Put a CSW roof and sides on her 90, with a pair of forward facing seats. If she wants more room she takes whatever you've left at home.

She will almost certainly get pregnant again. Miscarriage is incredibly common although not often talked about. Usually it has no bearing on getting pregnant again. However, the 90 is her dream car. Not all 4 of you will fit but that's what the L322 and at a push the beamer are for. I'd probably have kept the 110 myself but it is her opinion that counts and there's more than enough space elsewhere should the inevitable happen. Pity really as I might be able to shift the 90 for you!

I voted keep them all but I would narrow the losers to the 110 or the BM and out of those two it would be the BM that goes.

If you have 3 cars and there is only two of you then the third naturally becomes the spare, it doesn't matter what it is :)

The loss of the BM would recoup tax, insurance and running / maintenance costs of that vehicle which could be put back into the coffers.

I've been down the miscarriage path too and it was extremely unpleasant but we [I say we because I still have the 'baby belly' 12 years later] did fall pregnant not long after so it does happen :)

Sell the 110 as you can always convert the 90 to have more seats if required and put it back to a truck cab at a later date (if it's financial choice). However if its really just down to space I would sell the beamer as although it's not worth much it gives you the space plus saves you the tax, insurance & MOT charges every year. Keep the L322 as your car, the 90 as the partners car and the 110 as the joint spare you will regret selling either defender if they are good ones as there is a lot of rubbish ones around
