wet drivers floor

Hi guys me again
this has probably been covered before?
I had a great day out to Gloucestershire today to run my new tyres in.
when I got back I jet washed the car to make her all shiny again

I decided to wash the rubber mats as they had mood on them also .

then I noticed that my carpet was damp on the drivers side
I ran my hand over the carpet up towards the centre counsel and my had was wet but it was kinda greasy not much of a smell, but greasy to the touch

does this mean I have a leak on my heater matrix.

and if so what is the best thing to do,
and how to fix, would it be better to get a guy in to fix it?

Heater O rings, common problem. Either that or you are incontinent
Been covered many times if you search, fiddly job but not that hard. Maybe a guide in the How To section.

my search is not that good on my phone hence I put (it maybe covered before)

Simple enough to do just access is a pain.....it is only one bolt but a sod to get to

Buy a set of loooooong screwdrivers! Saves a world of hassle and pain lol

Not a bad job at all if the little screw isnt stuck fast...

I would check your pollen filter covers for leaks first as you had just jet washed it. Have a taste of the dampness in the carpet, see if it tastes of anti freeze, if it does then go for the "O" rings. Believe the bastard screw can be accessed with a very long screwdriver after you remove the radio. Good luck.

Ok thanks guys. I'm guessing it is a anti freeze as it feels like it has chemicals in it.

Is there anything else need doing to the heater thingie while I'm there

I might take it to the garage to get it done as I think this it over my head doing this myself.

landrover say dash out job if you send it in, may be worth taking covers of pollen filters and seal round with self adhesive draft excluder as they often leak

I've done the pollen filters. And the wetness is not water it feels like anti freeze

Won't go to land rover direct there is a 4x4 place in chipingham that does range rovers

Expect yer pants pulled down on the price.....most places don't like to do the job!

Do it yer self, save a wad and take pleasure in mastering your Range Rover!!!

It is not difficult, just access is an arse, as above, get some lllloooooooong screwdrivers and search the net for the method, loads and loads of them around!

(get yo'self on a computer/tablet to be able to search better )

I will see how much they charge first. If the price makes me faint I might chat up my friend to give me a hand. He used to work for Honda. My problem is time. I don't have much of it spare. And the time I do have spare I spend it with my 3 year old son.

Time is limited for me also...I have an adorable 9 month old daughter....this is why I do all my work overnight at weekends (where possible) this means I am knackered with working all through the night, but means I don't miss to much of my girlfriend and daughter!!

I am lucky to have the use of the workshop at work admittedly, but when it comes to the Ninety, cos it isn't LEZ compliant, I can't take that to work, so that is done during the day on the drive!

Time with loved ones is priceless hence why I don't mind paying people to do stuff for me

Sometimes my hourly rate is higher than what people charge me for doing things.

It's all down to time verses money

Very true...if I could afford it, I'd get mine done at a local indy...but I can't, so I am left to do things myself (mostly)

I know the feeling. I know my limitations on what I can and can't do. I can do most things but I don't have the correct tools do the job.

Plus if I bugger it up I will have to pay someone to out it right lol[emoji38]

What did you wash it with? Soap or chemicals?

Normally the antifreeze leave a green colour behind when it evaporates.

Usual culprits of water ingress:

Pollen filters (see Brain's draughtexcluder fix - 5 minute job)
Sunroof drains (haven't got one so going on hearsay)
Aircon drains popping off (5 minute job to check)
Heater matrix O rings (RangeRover.net has the how to, I think although there might be one on here too. Stealers will cost a fortune.)

For this one you just need a very long screwdriver. Only costs a few quid.

If it has a slight greasy sticky texture it is coolant....if it tastes bitter sweet it is coolant!!
