When we got the RR back from its very expensive MOT the drivers side electric window and mirror module had done its usual...which was for the drivers electric window switch to pop out. It was like it when we brought it and wasn't an issue, once in a while I would put a tiny bit of super glue on to the 'loose' bit and it would work fine. Ahead of the MOT I thought I would 'do the glue' job so as to not freak out the mechanic if the switch popped out, unfortunately a bit too much glue must have come out. When I got the vehicle back I noticed the switch had popped again and was on the drivers footwell, only when I put it back on the window would not go down anymore.
After much testing and messing around I decided to swap the switch for a spare that I had (purchased when the drivers side window stopped working which later proved to be a faulty regulator)
What seemed as if it was going to be an easy fix turned out to be otherwise, a real P.I.T.A, but with the help of my youngest son who is 18 and has miles more patience than me we managed to fix the problem. It shows the value of building up your own little parts cabinet, because you never know when you are goin to need bits and pieces...I don't resell ANY of the its and bobs I have purchased even if they were not eventually needed, because you know sure as eggs are eggs that further down the line you will end up needing that bit you parted with! Be a horder and be proud of it! NB Always worth having a bunch of door poppers around, cheap as chips and always needed if you remove door cards.
