Hi All,

Has anyone a guide to assessing the play in the Watts linkage bushes?

Mine are free enough, and when the arms are in a vice and pulled, there is no play to be felt, but im wondering if they can still be worn.

Obviously i dont want to spend £150 on 3 bushes unless i have to! ive just replace the outers, they seemed a bit worn, but ive seen worse

thanks

Hi Gordy, obviously due to the mileage the car has done there will be wear. Does the wear warrant replacement? Well how can we at a distance tell you?

If there is no play then I would say they are ok, without seeing and testing them. Are there any signs of the rubber splitting?

As it's any easy enough job to take them off again at some time in the future, I would wait until you can actually hear knocking, if there is nothing detrimental to see right now.

Good luck

Dave

Thanks dave,

Ive done exactly that, rubbers etc are ok, and i always find it hard to assess these sorts of bushes anyway, so they can stay there till they knock

Ive still a wander to the left, and the wheel alignment computer is showing the rear axle sitting slightly to the right, i think replacing the outer bushes has helped a bit.

cheers

In that case Gordy I would be checking the bushes in the rear tie rods.

Hi Dave
Hope you dont mind me jumping in and Hi jacking this link. You have a access to a system that shows the make up of components..Can it cover the heater blower motor assembly on a 2002 D2?

Have you clicked on it to have a look ... :scratching_chin::doh:

Try this from the D1, who know what a previous owner has done ...
Allbrit.de - Ersatzteile für LAND ROVER & MG ROVER

this is the RR P38 ...
Allbrit.de - Ersatzteile für LAND ROVER & MG ROVER

It looks like the P38, But its factory fitted, there is a round hole cut in the passenger side kicker panel under the glove box that gives access to the base of the unit and the two screws that allow you to center/ adjust the motor and the large round white fan thats attached to the motor. Its those two strange looking screws I was hoping to locate. The ones on my unit are so corroded by historic water ingress that having removed the unit and cleaned it the heads have disntergrated.

There's 5 bushes in a kit and BRITISHPARTS UK do the full kit all inc for £92.33.
