well here goes i have a td5 discovery driving fine ,stoped tryed to restart no go
not evena chuff of smoke, checked fuel pump fine has had a new injector loom ecu a year ago? various garages cannot access the ecu which leads me to believe ecu failure? any help would be great before i start pulling my hair out cheers.I have searched and seached but non the wiser.

I Know you say that you had a new injector loom last year but have you checked the red ecu plug for oil?

Can you hear the fuel pump working? If so is it gurgling?

hi yes i have checked the red plug on the ecu no oil its spotless and the pump is making all the right sounds and even tryed a different pump no joy

Check the injector loom plug on the front of the head for oil/tightness. Also have a look at the crank position sensor wiring as it can wear through on the topk of the bell housing. Its rare for an ECU to fail unless its physically damaged or you have done some welding without unplugging it.

hi there is a bit of oil at the head end of the connection block ,pluged it in to autodiagnos today no communication to ecu checked all feeds and earths to ecu all checks out sounds like dead ecu .
Can anybody tell me where I can locally (to chepstow south wales)programme new second hand ecu to the injectors.

Many thanks Rob

Anyone with a Nanocom or similar can program injectors. I dunno about synching the ecu and bcu though as I've never tried to do it.

That's simple...i did it with hawkeye, accessing the ECM's immobiliser menu the tester will do it alone... the theory is just that u have to use same type or newer ECU otherwise the BCU will not recognise the code.

@ROB1N ... just make sure that at least one of those garages did use a dedicated tester for Td5 cos no generic OBD reader will comunicate wit it
.

replacement ecu on and i have the last 6 digits of the chassis no too ,the garage im taking it to has autologic but have not done a td5 before any pointers if they get stuck cheers robin

1. read the injector codes from original ECM and note them on a piece of paper
2. put new ECM , access ECM programming - immobiliser(code) --- the tester must do the rest
3. write the injector codes in the new ECM exactly as they were in the old oner........job done

I take it the Ecm is Not the ECU And its another module As i cannot connect to the old ECU As it failed or can i just get the injecter Codes off the injecters cheers Rob

ECU is a generic name for "Electronic Controll Unit" that's why there are different ECU's (e.g EAT ECU, SLABS ECU, ACE ECU, etc.) ECM is "Engine Controll Module"(as named in the Td5 workshop manual) and it's the name of the engine ECU which many people(you too;)) name it simply ECU(which is not wrong but not accurate:))

so when i say ECM it's the engine ECU... if the old one doesnt communicate u have to take the rocker cover off and read the codes from the injectors... first of all override the immobiliser and start it to make sure it works cos the engine will run even with uncoded injectors but not with the best performance

cheers for that, ive already done as you said and have got all the injector codes i take it autologic will overide the immob

sorted once i got my head around autologic some comand prompt's were arse backwould had 2 press 2 track throttle to get three track throttle selection.
