viscous fan spanner

Sorry to have to ask guys but despite all the posts in 'search' none seem to give me a definitive answer as they all seem to concern TDI versions or P38. Can anyone tell me what size spanner is required to remove the 11 blade viscous fan on my '87 RRC 3.5efi as I need to change the cowl. Thanks for your help.

I've only ever used an adjustable on mine. Never failed yet or damaged the nut. Sorry I can't answer more accurately!

That's it, just a large bog standard adjustable works for me 3.5 and 3.9.

Thanks for the replies folks. The reason I asked about the size is because I thought a cranked spanner was needed to clear the fan, but perhaps not.

I just ground a correct size square bit out of the end of a bar .. nice and long and heavy so it only takes a small tap to shock the viscous fan nut off. Don't forget it's left hand thread ..
