TD5 rear motor is different from older ones.....

The new style wiper socket has a 3 in line durite plug connector. The old style loom has a circular plug also with 3 pin connections.

Td5 rear wiper motor wires

black - earth
brown/light green
red/light green
white/green

older wiper motor

black - earth
green -- 12v power feed
brown/light green -
red/light green

and they vary from £67 to £110 depending on ya VIN number.

Does it matter how old vehicle is as to which one i get= ie- do i just want a defender td5 rear wiper motor or do i need to say which type :confused:

Landrover change parts and design regularly. They date that change by the vin numbers on the vehicle. so for instance the change from rear drum brakes to rear disk brakes would have changed over on a specific vin number if your vin number is lower than that change over point yu have drums if ya vin number is higher you have disks
 
Bloody hell Im not paying over £100 to get a part that I might not be able to later fit -:mad:

So looks like I'm going down the second hand route - problem tho -just checked on ebay and put in defender td5 rear wiper motor- they've only got post 2001 parts onso grand entrance into motor mechanics may have to go on hold:Cry:

why not start with some thing simple and cheaper then
 
I my defence - they didnt just tell me to put in new gearboxes- the beast died a very noisy and temporarily undrivable death on each occassion and had to be recovered back to my garage

and

please dont laugh at this but....

they seem genuinely nice blokes in the garage- they know im on my own with the kids and i just feel that they wouldnt take advantage of my ignorance.

Realise i've nothing to base that on tho other than a belief in the underlying goodness of people.... maybe a bit nieve but would hate to think the whole world is just full of people waiting to rip others off .

my final proof to that belief is a lot of you on here- ive had a lot of help and even offers of practical help ( admittedly as well as a lot of **** taking - but thats part of the fun ) and given that weve already established that Im not a 21year old swedish glamour model and therefore you have no mucky alternative motives I just have to read into that , that you just might be nice blokes who want to help :):):)
