mabe 3 take the lining off the back door to see the moter then old one off new one on simple
i think that i could tackle a 3 rating- if it doesnt work it doesnt bugger anything else up does it ?

it should just be a case of disconnent old one the re wire new one job done if it dont work your no worce off

Can officially announce that replacing motor is going to be my first project
Going to see if I can work out how to get lining off the door tomorrow as a start ( wasnt really aware they had linings- never looked at it that closely)
Next question - where do i get motor ? ( never bought parts b4 )

Once I get some tools from Halfords and my manual from e-bay-Need some suggestions for a list of mega simple things to do on car ( after the tyres that is )...
Need them to be really really easy, really really getatable- ideally at the top of the car so i dont have to go under it just yet , clean if possible and definately be in a category that if I cock it up it won't be..
1) fatal for me and the kids
2) lethal for the beast
3) expensive to put right
All suggestions welcome
Can we discuss your oil in the engine..... using the below guide. what colour was the oil on the end of the dip stick?
A.... it was so clean, like honey on a straw
B.....it was a tan colour. looked a little like used oil from a chip pan
C....it was a very dark brown....a bit like dark chocolate
D....it was like marmite, black but runny (similar to your fave black handbag).
How many miles have you done since July or your last oil change?

You can see from that ebay pic theres max 3 bolts holding the motor to the rear door..easy job. Please say you know what ebay is......

just looked at that pic on e-bay - it looks more complicated than I thought it would- more wires and bits..........still not going to chicken out just coz picture bit scarey....
is it ok to buy second hand one- not better to buy a new one ??

Dont be put off by the wires...take door lining off..then compare, see if wires you have are same as the motor you buy..if not then just write down what colour has to connect to that you have...
Parts like this i always buy used...cost arm/leg new so i take a chance on a low mileage replacement.

afraid to say D as its got a frowny face next to it- but it is exactly same shade as black handbag and matching patent stilletoes . have done about 8000 miles ...ish since last service

well they should be able to do 12000 miles between services but we do our works 110 td5 every 6000 just cause 12000 seems not right!

you cynical old sod you- I know that 2.495 is engine size not type of engine- ( in fairness tho, only know that coz i have to write it on my mileage form each month and had to check when i first got it )
