Hi all
The forum's search function seems to be malfunctioning so apologies if this has already been covered before...
While battling to get the starter motor out to bench test it (it's knackered) I broke the plastic 90 degree vacuum connector attached to the brake servo -

Is this an easily available part, and how do you get the broken one out? Does it just lever out, and then push the new one in? I'll head to the breakers on Monday but would rather not mess about with more brittle plastic.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your reply. Checked it out, but the photo doesn't show the plastic 90 degree bend which is the part that broke. Is that a separate part?

STC780 is just the non return valve - another picture:-

I added a second servo to the clutch system on SWMBO's D1, and the vacuum pipework is standard 12mm OD plastic - same stuff as used on Wagon air and vac systems.... which I sourced from the local HGV place .... IIRC, these fittings are also available on the bay of fleas too ...

Alternatively, have you got any breakers yards near you?

Yeah heading to a breakers tomorrow in the hope that they've got a starter motor too. Just thinking that the chances of getting a replacement non-return valve out in one piece are pretty slim by the sounds of it

Agreed - I'd get the whole servo and then use some heat at home to make the job a bit easier ..... plenty of hot water should help.... but when I did SWMBO's clutch servo .... the original pipework was scary to work with due to its age...

Here's the thread - piccies show the fittings I mentioned above :)

One way valves are also available on the bay .... so you could always go down that route if it were necessary ..... ( there's one pictured in me thread above ;) )

No, it dose appear that the connection is straight. There’s only one part number so if the description is correct that’s what available now, my disco also has one which is angled.

Ok, rookie question - so supposing in the meantime I try and repair it. What would the symptoms be if there's a vacuum leak? Brakes won't work as efficiently?

Brakes will not be servo assisted proportionate to the lack of vacuum - so pedal effort for a given braking force will be higher .... maybe significantly higher ....

Not sure I'd want to drive "on the road" like this.

However, can you not jury rig something together.... cos it's a vacuum system, so any minor air leaks might not affect things too much.. I guess it's a case of suck it and see .... and then be bl@@dy careful

Managed to get a replacement from the scrapyard when I went and picked up a starter motor. Was a bitch to get the one out at the scrapper - the guy there did it though and gave me the bit plus vacuum hose for free. My broken one came out easier - levered it out with a couple of flat head screwdrivers.
Thanks for your input, all.
