I have purchased a V6 freelander which has the usual autobox issues. It is just a project to keep me off the street corners at night so I am pulling it to bits as and when I can be bothered. I am in the position of pulling the IRD away from the gearbox and despite all of the bolts being out the IRD refuses to move away from the box. I am not one for big hammers and levers as this is how things get broken. Is there a technique for seperating the two boxes and are they usually firmly together. Any advise would be welcome.
