Had a bit of a rumble/grinding noise develop in the last few months. Assumed it could have been the IRD on the way out, so removed the prop thinking the noise would go away if that was the case. Noise remains, the flange also seems in good condition. Not much backlash etc.
It has slowly gotten worse. It is noticeable from low speed and up. I checked the brakes, also thinking it could be sticking brakes. But they are ok. So today I jacked up both front wheels and ran it in gear. This time with no load on the wheels the noise is only noticeable from 20mph or so upwards. I'm thinking CV joints now, it is quite a rumble but doesn't feel like its coming from inside the IRD.
Here is a video of it. Any thoughts? My next step is to get it up on the two poster and have a proper listen with the stethoscope. I am hoping CV joints.
