for anyone else readin this, I can say from experience that drivin diflocked with one prop shaft off shouldn't cause any damage. I have done it on numerous occasions after erm... brakin summat.

Last time i was in north sheep land, drove for over 100 miles with rear prop off. Have also done some lanin in 2wd after blowing a rear diff and not wanting to scrub the day. Its amazin where a front wheel drive disco will go with descent tyres :eek:.

all apologies for lack of response from me and I really appreciate everyone's halp.. I am on mondo mode until I get time to do sommat about it and all seems to be going wel... although only short distances.. got back home that night at 5am and was only only awoken at about 11 next day by phone going mental with everyone trying to help me out.. feel bad not posting but heh it was 5am ffs..

off to LRO show saturday to have a gander and see if i can get bargain bits..

talking of bargain bits anyone know why paddocks want silly money for disco 1 prop shaft with cats but reasonable money for one without cats (55 quid versus 395)

and i just looked, it aint just them.. famous four about the same prices..

so I was going to replace the prop just in case but now thinking how can I tell if the prop needs replacing or if i can get away with just replacing the UJ's... thing is covered in mud and crap so I guess a good clean is the first thing but then what am I looking for / at to see if the part is still serviceable????

will post some piccies tomoz if that helps at all...

right ho all.. sat in me front room with propshaft and two brand new bearmach uj's and a print out of the rave.. bloody confused... Ratty mentioned a threadd / tutorial but I'm too stupid to find it.. anyone got a link?

also I found out from the rave why the prop is so much more expensive and Ratty's theory at the LRO autojumble was spot on.. it's cos it's "of solid bar construction"

last thing, can a mod or admin change the title of this fred so peeps know it aint urgent anymore... ta...

nope been doing only local trips in mondo mode.. lack of power caused by blocked cats is nicely stopping any fishtailing from being rwd.. front pipes coming off tomoz and off to hiscocks on monday for the cats to be cut out so want to get this done ready for my theoretical return to full power v8... assuming I've sourced a new airbox by then.. btw what do you lot think of doign away with the airbox alltogether and fitting a cheap k&n copy??

oh and MHM be good to see you if you pop in on your way Monday.. but with any luck be done by then cos as always the disco is playing up cos I'm supposed to be off on hols with pikey wagon on wednesday...

i wish i understood what needed doing well enough to understand your reply MHM.. the way ratty described it this was an easy job, the way the rave describes it you need a degree in automotive engineering to get started on the job.. i might keep looking for that tutorial for a bit..

See if this helps
