i just got a disco so i can come play with the big boys. problem i have is when i unlock it the frount pass door will not open even though it unlocks.:):)

Apparently its to do with the "springs" - there was a fred on here the other day - yu can pick them up on E-bay. recomendation is to change them on all doors as if one is worn, the chances are they all are.

i do - only the other week when the slitty went in to be serviced. He has had no more probs with his rangie, so all seems well. Thanks again for your assistance.

I'm yet to get around to this, luckily for me it's just the drivers door I'm having the problem with so put the key if to move it the last 1mm and it's alright.

I think you might be better off first taking the door card off and looking at the mechanism - it may require adjustment. (I do however stand to be corrected!!)

It has been a long time since I had to look at a door lock but I have a vague recollection that if the spring that you hear so much about is at fault, the problem is not being able to lock/unlock the door. It is a silly irritation and a bit fidly to do - you will swear and curse if it is the spring replacement you need to do;)

Not being able to open the door (but you can lock/unlock) suggests the control rod isn't able to move enough to open it so adjustment required. It is quite easy to do, pop the door card off, have a good look where everything is, lower teh window so you can poke your head through then lock/unlock the door and pull the handle - you should be able to see what the problem is. I think my mate Ryder had this problem with his Disco, if I remember well. All I did was loosen the mechanism and move it - the bolts are in slotted or large holes to give some adjustment although I am a little hazy on this as it was a while ago.

5 min adjusment of the mechanism had it sorted. Re-assemble door card etc and job done.

Hope that helps.

BTW nearly forgot - have you tried lubricating the lock - the lock barrel (WD40 and then the actual latch)
