Hi all, just had my driver's door main latch mechanism replaced for my MOT. Got the car back on Friday and the car now unlocks and immediately locks and does this over and over again. The driver's door isn't locking unless I push the button down, doing this isn't activating the other doors. The key is just spinning 360° in the lock, no resistance at all. The internal door handle won't open the driver's door unless I manually pull up the button.

I put the car in to the garage to be repaired not to come back worse than when it went in. I've paid 3 hrs labour for this.

Any ideas what's wrong, or has the garage put the lock back together wrongly?

I'll post a video of the door and it's gremlins in the morning.

‘Bounce back’ is simple to rectify by adjusting the locking actuator on the mounting bracket, just a millimetre one way or the other.
With the key doing a 360 I suspect the issue is with the barrel retaining clip but a looksee may find something else.

Perfect, is it an adjustment closer or further away from the lock? They didn't have a clue how to fit a door lock. I had to give them my D1 workshop manual!!

It's the garages problem- get them to sort it. Don't do their job for them, by researching on here unless they are paying you.
You could always threaten to name and shame unless it is fixed to your satisfaction.

I was told my 26 year old D1 V8 was causing issues as the "mechanic" couldn't plug it in to a diagnostic system!!
Just wait until I send them my 37 year Range Rover Classic for MOT!!!

Diagnostic is limited on a 300 series D1 I believe, and here’s no onboard diagnostic on early RRs but then its not necessary for an MOT😊
I've got an ECUmate for my D1. My RRC is approx 10 years older than their mechanic 😂😂. No ABS, No CATS, straight pipes!!

The lock is linked to the actuator via a short rod and retained to the door by its brackets 4 screws undo them slightly and move the bracket.

It’s something I found in my RR days, my main dealer service dept where the RR went for service was a 90mile round trip away, so had to do DIY and find out, its been handy a couple of times with my disco.
