Hello,

I'm taking my 200TDi injectors to be ultrasonically cleaned and pop pressures re-set next week. It's a process which is supposed to be just as good as fitting new injectors to an engine, but at a total cost of around £40, as opposed to a few hundred for new nozzles etc or a full recon. Has anybody ever gone down this route and if so, has it made a noticeable improvement?

Thanks

I have not had it donw myself, just removed and cleaned mine with a rag and WD40 ) purely to put new copper sealing washers in. I have access to an ultrasonic bath at work though so i'll be watching your post with interest )

All the best and hope it works for you.

It certainly looks promising. I've been looking into it for a few weeks and I've had a good chat over the phone with a local injection specialist. Basically he wants £5 per injector to test them and set the pop pressures, and then an extra £5 per injector to ultrasonically clean them. Most of the time there is no need for new nozzles apparently, and it is purely a mixture of varnish and carbon build up (or any crap in the fuel) which effects the spray pattern in the nozzle. I'll let you know how it goes following the process. I'm not sure whether or not the injectors are operated whilst they are submerged in the cleaning bath or whether they are just literally left to 'soak' in the bubbly, vibrating solution.

Never tied it mesel' pos, but would summit like this be of any use...

Ultrasonic Cleaner Tattoo Pre Autoclave / Steralise on eBay (end time 11-Jul-10 17:06:44 BST)

There's a few on ebay that's cheaper;)

We've got a little ultrasonic cleaner around the house somewhere, my mum bought it a year or so ago to clean jewellery but from what I remember, it was bollocks - very underpowered and no where near big enough to take an injector. I can't go wrong though really for £20 at a proper place.

Pm CharlesY.
I think he does that service. He should be able to answer yo Q.

Shirley yu need Carbon Tetracloride to decarbonise them, not an ultrasonic cleaner.

T'was just a thought;)

A good one at that too :) I'm sure that the ultrasonic cleaner I saw in the video on youtube had a bit more to it than just a vibrating tray though, it looked like something out of a bizarre science fiction film

The ones we use at work usually clean most of the crud off the the needles and tubes before they go into the bigger one. Me mrs uses something simillar when havin' to clean folks glasses;)

Dunno if this makes any sense pos.. but the ones we use has the vibrator thingy onh the bottom of the tank. Sorry mate but ah'm a wee bit rubbered just now and strugglin' a bit with the keyboard:eek::eek::D:D

I know exactly that you mean yes! The little one that my mum's got sounds like the one you're describing. The one I've seen that's used for injector cleaning had high pressure bubble jets and all sorts going on. It basically looked like a miniature Jacussi.

Aye they're kind simmilar mate, but the one yer mum uses is nothin' in comparison to the ones we use

if they are squirt tested and then the springs replaced, a good clean with a solvent or ultrasonic should do the trick , i have chainsaw and disc cutter carbs done that way as the jets and drillings are under 1mm so are too hard to clean with a bit of wire , let us kno how it goes, iv got a set ere that need recon ' d
