Just a quick question, hopefully someone can help.
I'm in the process of replacing the rear main oil seal on my 19J, and was wandering if ;
a. anyone has any tips as regards fitting one so I don't balls it up.
b. Is there supposed to be gasket between the block and the flywheel housing, there wasn't one fitted previously and I can only see a replacement for the 200tdi ?
Any help greatly appreciated.

Should have a gasket, part no ERR1440 [ same as 200]
Go to Turner Engineering for quality OEM parts, seal is ERR2532.
This is the same as original Dowty made seal.
Seal and crank surface have to be dry when fitted [ no oil].
I like to fit seal to housing on the bench and then fit housing to block having already fitted gasket to block [ gasket has sealant pre applied] using the plastic guide supplied.
Last seal I did was rather tight to go in housing so it spent an hour in the freezer before pressing squarely in place. Take your time and do it right. Cheers.
