OUR AIM
Welcome to our drive for charity, our aim is to raise money for four worthy causes that have had an impact on our lives.
We intend to drive around the coastline of mainland Great Britain around April time 2007, in a Land Rover Discovery, using only minor roads and trying to keep the sea in view as much as possible. We will be camping out along the route, taking the majority of supplies with us on board, the fuel being purchased as and when required.
We aim to cover the distance (unknown as yet) in about 21 Days, it may seem a long time but you must realise that the coastline of Great Britain is in the region of 11,000 miles long! Our aim is not a record time but only to cover the distance and raise money in the process for worthy causes. We will also require maintenance days on route adding to the time schedule . A prize for the nearest mileage driven on the challenge will also be on offer!
We are also attempting a "Longest Bridge 4x4 crossing" at the end of the challenge , this being a 4x4 nose to tail crossing of the Humber Bridge www.humberbridge.co.uk . An update will be made available nearer the time with all timings and information . The convoy will then proceed to Kirton Off Road Centre (KORC) for the finish of the event.
We are trying to involve as many local companies as possible, also asking for local radio stations and newspapers to do some form of coverage. Graves Transport Ltd. has kindly confirmed to be our primary sponsor and have donated the cost of fuel.
Our local off-road centre KORC Kirton in Lindsey, www.korc.co.uk will be our point of departure and the finishing line for when we complete the challenge. We also aim to have a "Sign the Discovery for a pound day" at TESCOS in Scunthorpe on the 7th of April , the day before departure, hopefully being covered by the Scunthorpe Evening Telegraph.
So if you would like to add your support to our charity event then please let me know at the following e-mail address: [email protected] or by mobile on 07877459088 .
John Hoult & Co. Solicitors will be acting as event banker, all funds collected will go through this organization into a "Challenge account". Details available through John Hoult Solicitors on 01724 281312. John has provided this service for free .
Could you please forward any donations/cheques that you may wish to donate to this worthwile causeto -

can put a bit of dosh into it from me ebay scams.
(sorry about the typo i meant, me ebay sales).

Nice one slob.
I am donating 3 weeks of my life to it.
460miles a day every day for 21 days.
If we manage to average 40mph that means about 11 hours a day driving... And his motor is a Auto.......AAARRGGGHHH I HATE AUTOS.....

Its obvious we not going to do every little road to get right near the coast otherwise we aint got a chance of doing it at all..... But we going to keep the Coast in view as much as possible.

I did make one request tho and that was to stop at Portmeirion in wales where they filmed the hit Sixties cult series THE PRISONER with Patrick McGoohan. Its just somewhere I have always wanted to go.....:D

If you can post details of your route and expected timescales, I'm sure LZ members would like to give you a wave as you pass through their area and offer advice and assistance should you need it!
If I eventually sell enough LandyZone Car Stickers (PM me for details) to cover my costs, I will donate any profits to the cause.
So come on you lot - buy stickers and help a good cause too!

So far, I've sold 114 out of the 250 that I bought.
There's some people who originally said they wanted them but they haven't paid up  . That's another 50!
Once I've sold 150, I reckon I should break even - then we're making money for the charities.
