Im curantly rolling along on 265/75 16 chunky off roaad tyres.
Dose any one know wot kind of PSI they shoud be run at, I allways put 30 in if i dont know,
More to the point of the thread dose anyone bother droping the PSI when off roading?if so wot to.

respect

30-35 sounds about right. You could google chalk test to see if theyre inflated enough. Dont drop the tire pressure unless ya in the sahara

Cheers mate.I dont drop my tyre pressuers down when off roading it allways seemed strange to me to run soft tyers and deform the shape and profile out of there design allso weekern the seal on the bead .
I just picked up on it on another thread an wonderd if its common practice.

Think thats for if its really boggy, you let the pressure out slightly to give a little more surface area contact to try and stop from sinking in but most will have bead locker rims I'd guess

Lowering tyre pressures is to increase the surface area of the tyre in contact with the ground - when driving over challenging or slippery surfaces it is best to drop the tyre pressures. It will not damage the tyres unless they are retreads or cheap crap ones. good 4x4 tyres are designed to take a little more abuse than a road tyre. In the US some rock crawlers (although usuaully beadlocked) run as little 8 psi in their tyres!
