Someone tried to steel my defender 90 on the Ryton area of Gateshead, they were unsuccessful but have broken my dash, locks, steering lock. The scum!!! Just watch out for the t**ts!! They left my tools, sunglasses etc in the car... I rang the police but don't have much faith!! Anyone else in the area had any problems??

Yeah, but it was a secret kill sw saved her!! Going out this weekend to get myself more protection! Hopefully more visable security will make them not bother!!

(referring to another thread) see Bump. secret kill switch sort of helps :behindsofa:

Get yourself a Disklok. (a proper one) by far the best first line defence in security for any Land Rover. Highly visible too. Always park on full lock (preferably towards the curb) before applying.

If you can weld you can modify it to make it even harder to get off.

Kill switches are an ok second or third line of defence. Clearly it saved your Defender for you this time but at the cost of your steering lock system... a DiskLok would have protected that too!

Don't bother with pedal boxes / clutch claws... they're just a waste of money.

I'd argue the other way round.. Disklok far too easy to pry off, whereas a full cover pedal lock is much harder to defeat surely. By full cover I mean one that doesn't offer the opportunity to cut off the pedals and drive on the stalks, of jus locks the brake or clutch.

Iv just bought a disk lock last night so hopefull that will help stop them. I'm also fitting an alarm for noise to try and frighten them off if they do get in!! Thanks for all the advice!

I have a genuine question for you? If I can make off with your vehicle with the pedal lock still in place and without using a recovery vehicle/crane would you give me £10?

A proper disklok especially with modifications is not easy to remove and would not allow a vehicle to be driven somewhere quieter to use power tools on it.

I'm not going to post on a public forum how but it would be very easy to drive away a vehicle with a full pedal box.

Can i play too??
