Towbar Bolts

Hi all,

I have got hold of a second hand genuine tow-bar for my disco2 (P/N STC 50289) the only problem is it didn't come with any bolts I was wondering if someone could help by telling me what bolts are required to fit it to the car.

Good idea

Bolts & torque settings for STC 50289AB taken from Land Rover fitting instructions

Center mounting bracket M14 x 85 (x2) 140NM
Side mounting arms chassis end M16 x 125 (x2) 240NM
Side mounting arms doubler piece M16 x 40 (x2) 240NM
Drop plate to Center mount & side mounts M16 x 50 (x4) 240NM

8 M16 bolts and washers required, M14 bolts not required as they have captive bolts on the chassis behind the rear bumber.

Hope this helps anyone with a similar problem.

I just go to the farm shop and buy bolts that go through the holes…..

Do it with 4.6 grade set screws and we can have a sweep on what shears first!

@jamesmartin what size bolts do I need for a D1 tow hitch. In particular hitch to chassis?
M10 seem a bit loose, but M12 are too tight. You have part numbers rattling around in yo head. You must know......

Not sure if I need to open out chassis tubes or not.

It's good I didn't pm then, int it, otherwise you wouldn't have seen the post. M10 it is then. What a gentleman you are, even if you are a rude one. About time you came back to Kent and calmed down a bit.

By the way, that is not my tow bar system. I have the thinner r/a system. Or at least I do now.

@discool ..... why would you fit an m8 nut on to an m10 bolt?

At least post correct info
