I have been using my old 88” diesel S2a for towing for the last 26 years and covered over 100k miles and have probably irritated many motorist, who have been stuck behind me on hills, over the years.

But times are changing, other road users appear to be less tolerant of my old Land Rover making me feel I should not be on the road. I don’t drive any slower than I used to, perhaps I am becoming more sensitive in my old age, vehicles and drivers are faster and more inpatient.
I don’t know!! I love my old Land Rover and would never part with it, anyone have similar feelings?

Should I invest in a more modern vehicle,
Just carry on and take no notice,
Fit a later and more powerful engine to my old L/R

I would be very interested in member’s views on my predicament.

every one seems to be in a rush these days! ask any of them if they enjoyed the journey and they would tell you that it was simply a means of getting from A to B.
me, i am never in a rush and love going places in my landy and by the sound of it so do you. who has got it all wrong? not us, me thinks.

just turn on the aircon (open vents) sit back in your leather seats (fake/vinyl) turn up the sterio (dont weld the hole in the manifold) and enjoy the journey.

Option 'B' "Just carry on and take no notice"

You have more right to be on the roads than most of them, due to not having to tear around everywhere at high speed, not exceeding speed limits, and most of all, for driving a Landy!!

At least you get where you are going, often only a few seconds behind them coz you ain't rushing!! So sod 'em all!

Thank you to everyone for your replies to my thread. The general consensus is to carry on regardless, which is what I expected amongst fellow series owners, and is what I intend to do. I wonder how many drivers that do not own old Land Rovers would agree.
There was something that was pointed out to me some time ago regarding using historic tax class vehicles for towing loaded livestock trailers, flat bed trailers carrying vehicles and general business activities, as a breach of tax free status. This of course may be another reason for the intolerance shown by other road users.

Have looked, and under current legislation, as far as I can tell everything should be OK.

Unless you are stopped and it is pointed out to you that you are doing something wrong, then carry on regardless!

Even though it is an historic vehicle, as long as it is insured for business, there is no problem!!

Im sure i read something a while on the where if a vehicle is used for business, it reqs road tax regardless of age.

Oh yeh TDI engine transforms the car, not stupid fast just nice and usable
