Following a recent health problem I have come to the decision to sell both my cars and buy a newer 4x4 that I don't need to tinker with. The Octavia Vrs will go as a trade in and then over the next few weeks am going to get the P38 cleaned and serviced ready for someone new to take forward. Once it's ready I will advertise it here first to see if anyone is interested, hope to get it done before I go in for surgery on the 20th April as I will be out of action for six plus weeks following my op. Hate getting old :(

So sorry for you Andy. My days are coming nearer to when I must sell my beloved P38 and get something more reliable and practical for the wife to drive us around in. Its a heart breaker but needs must.:(:(

I know exactly what you mean, takes me days to recover when I have been working on the P38 plus my wife won't drive either of my cars, ones too fast and ones too big and heavy.
I am both sad and happy to have made the decision.

Can't afford to sell mine and buy something more reliable, the cash they would raise would not buy anything that would not need work. At least with the P38, I know a bit about it and in fairness it has been reliable. Wife loves it and she would take some convincing to let them both go. I might sell the project car this year though.
We wouldn't have been able to but one of my pensions has become active just at the right time, another sign of getting old too.

I opted to sell my p38 in favour of something as equally unreliable, the only difference being it's too complicated to fix myself :D
Oh.. and nobody wants my p38
If I had to money I would buy it as a friend of mine just got a p38 and I must admit I’ve kinda fell in love with them. He’s a mechanic by trade but never likes doing work on his own cars so muggins is the one that end up working on his car. Already done thermostat on it. If only someone would give me the cash for what my freelander is actually worth I’d be near as damn be able to buy a p38.

I read your post with a heavy heart too as it’s a similar situation for myself when the larger jobs need doing. Fortunately my family and especially Mrs Tricky insist we keep our Range as long as we possibly can as they all love it. Good luck with your op and the sale, I’m sure somebody on here will give you a fair price for the P38.
Tricky :)

Sorry to hear that young lad:(
Ah it’s all good I manage the best I can, I don’t mind the pain for a few days when it means working on the cars cause I enjoy it but cause of a shoulder injury from a car accident 6 years ago it’s getting painful to change gears in the manual td4 freelander and I dont want to have to go through pain everyday just to drive so been seriously conisdering selling the td4 and hopefully getting what it’s worth or close to and picking up an auto p38.

The 38' also has its own maladies, but with some help from us lot you can go in with your eyes open. Keep fighting kiddo:D:);)

Ah all the landies have their quirks it’s what I love about them. At least with the landys when something goes wrong you know where you stand with them at least the older ones anyway. Not like the newer cars that throw a wobbly and go into limp home mode because it thinks a bulb might be out. I exaggerate of course but not by much. And being 5ft3 and 7 1/2 stone I can get under all the landys to work on them without even needing to jack them up lol
