99 Discovery 2 - TD5 - I have the classic three amigo problem. I have changed the shuttle switch, changed the ECU, checked the wiring and changed an ABS wheel sensor that was showing an intermittent fault. OK for a day then, 'bing' up come the three lights. I see there is a fix posted on YouTube which involves soldering up some of the wiring and linking it into the main harness (). Comments filed seem to indicate that this is a solid fix. Has anyone done this and, more important, would anyone strongly advise against it? Nobody wants their hill decent to cut in n a motorway or some other horror. Any advice much appreciated.

what fault codes are coming up
Intermittent fault on shuttle switch and an intermittent fault in front o/s brake sensor. This also brought the brake light on permanently. However, changing the sensor and checking the gap from the ring cured that, and the three amigos for about half a day - then back they came!

its usually pointless changing a wheel sensor, its a new hub thats needed as its wheel bearing that causes changing gap when under load

I've done this "Option B mod" as it known on many Discovery 2 forums.
It is the best choice to do on your Disco 2's ABS module to possibly cure the 3 Amigos fault.

Below are guides to complete the Option B mod. Take your pick...

I cured 3 Amigo’s on my last Disco Td5 Auto by cleaning the earth points behind the NSF headlight, I thought it was a wind-up but it worked for me. It had already had Two sensors replaced and was still triggering the 3 lights.

Originally there were the three amigos, then the brake light stayed on. Fault codes showed intermittent faults on front o/s brake and shuttle switch. Changed brake sensor and shuttle switch, checked wiring and swapped the ECU. OK for about half a day and then the three lights came up again. Was only the shuttle switch again but I'm going to get another set of codes in the next few days.

Thanks - I'll certainly give it a try.

Many thanks for your reply, I'll research all three and maybe give it a go if nothing else comes up that works.
