Disco 2 Those dreaded flashing S&M lights....

I've just driven about 5 miles, turned engine off for ten minutes, started up again and I now have the S&M lights flashing and gone into slow mode, though only pulling away otherwise drove pretty normal when cruising.
Last time I had this I had the abs light on as well as well and I think I cleaned the xyz switch, just wondered what the best things to look at are for just those two lights flashing.

The best is to make somehow and read the fault code stored in thetransmission ECU cos there can be 19 reasons for those flashing warnings even though the XYZ switch or low voltage are the most common

Well that was weird, I took battery off and on again no change, put into neutral and slid selector back and forth with ignition on and off, did same in low, then back to hi, turned ignition off counted to ten, put foot on brake pedal, ignition on and no m&s, went for a drive, all seems normal again.

You should check the voltage with engine running cos it can be an alternator fault
