Disco 2 More XYZ issues

I'm due to swap out my XYZ switch with a refurb one (refurbed by me), just haven't done it yet as I don't have the wrist articulation required!

However today - ironically while demming the car to the daughter of the guy I'm trying to get to help me change the switch - the S and M lights started flashing and the car seems to be in limp mode. This won't reset when I restart the car so I'm guessing it's more symptoms of "the switch".

This is going to be my next course of action, just posting here in case a random stranger passes and wants to offer any advice .

An alternative to the windscreen wiper test is: do the reverse lights come on? (No) Or do the parking sensors come on? (No).

While I'm at it...
I've noticed the passenger footwell is often wet. I had thought it was due to leaking sunroofs but these have now been resealed and are perfectly dry.
It appears to be clear water with no smell so I'm thinking it's probably air-con condensation. I think it's coming from the panel just above the transmission tunnel.
I'm also thinking it could be what's damaged the XYZ switch! - although it doesn't need to be leaking to do that, so maybe not.

Quit guessing.... simply make somehow to plug in a compatible scanner and read the fault code stored in the autobox ECU cos there can be 19 reasons for the flashing M+S lights with limp mode... then you'll know the real root of the fault

Yeah did that, there were some codes but nothing that seemed relevent. But I could have missed one so I'll do that again tomorrow, thanks.

The only relevant thing is that fault code believe me... just reveal it here and i'll tell you more. BTW if there are hystorical codes erase them, go for a ride then when the warnings are coming back read the code again, i hope you have a proper scanner not some cheap OBD2 tool cos that's irrelevant

I have a Hawkeye. I read the main ECU codes before, probably why they didn't seem relevent.
Read the transmission codes: P1843 and P1842 (CAN bus).
However I was able to reset successfully, so if there is a CAN bus connection fault it must be intermittent.

Have you checked the drains under the car are not blocked?

Not yet, but it's on the to-do list.

There's a little plug in the end of the pipe with a slit in it, if you pull the plug out and get a face full of sh1tty water you know it was blocked. You may need to stick something up the pipe like a cable tie if it's realy blocked up.

BTW there's 2 pipes one on each side of the transmission tunnel

These codes have nothing to do with the XYZ switch whatsoever, check the ECM red plug to not be full of oil and use some contact spray on the ECM and autobox ECU's plugs...these codes can appear even if the charging or the battery are not the best too. but definitely far from the switch

I would agree, except when I cleared them the lights went off.
