Hi all
My friends P38 decided to not let him out of the car this morning. Had a look at some threads and seems that the drivers door switch pack might be the culprit or the rear button. Can check the button but what is the switch pack?Is it t the main terminal box of electrics adjacent to the tweeter speaker or is it the lock itself? Do I take it apart and clean or just replace? Where do I get one?
Anything else I can do for him?
Many thanks
Simon

It will not be the boot button. It should be possible to pull up the door lock button to get out unless he has super locked it. Is it not possible to open any door? If that it the case it must be super locked. Normally unlocking by the door pull up button is a purely mechanical operation so no switch pack involvement.
Each door lock has a set of micro switches in the lock mechanism, the drivers switch pack is the one that normally fails.

Would not let him out of the car? Surely just pulling up the lock button or operating the door handle should have allowed him to get out? However will defer to my betters and Datatek is correct but even when my drivers door pack failed and would not let me start the car and immobilised the engine I could still get in and out of the car. Just seems very strange to me but I am just a simple man and I will await all the outcome from that line.

So this is how it went with my pal
" Everytime I manually pulled lock up it just pulled back down. Was same for all doors." I will not print the expletives!
Does this ring any bells with anyone?
Cheers
Simon

Nice one. Thanks for that and I can hear everyone either laughing or rolling their eyes. Now I know
Everyday is a lesson and then the inevitable happens.
Thanks to all
