Guys anything to do with head units its got to be Clarky and the all the tv's now work also

I have to do something whilst listening to my P38 stereo, it does sound good, I can't believe how good it is

Did you really find it that hard to replace the head unit?

1) I removed the old one
2) Use an adapter loom for aftermarket head units I had lying over from my Escort Van
3) Plug in loom
4) Connect new head unit.
5) Enjoy tunes.
6) At some point buy the blanks to cover the holes either side of the new head unit.

Maybe I just got lucky?

If it was that easy, and didn't produce an annoying buzz or very loud / very quiet / very distorted sound, you don't have the Harman / Kardon system.

Ah, would explain why these guys had issue. I have a poverty spec P38, so no fancy sounds for me.

H/K system has amps in the doors or in the boot... And they require a very specific type of input that a regular aftermarket head unit doesn't put out... Hence the requirements for a bit of electronickery to make it work.

I have got a head unit fitted to my 1999 P38, but would like to fit good aftermarket speakers in the front doors. I think I have got 3-way speakers (bass, mid and tweeter) but not 100% sure.

Anyway, your advice on which speakers to buy for about £150 and how to fit them would be appreciated.

btw I had been working in Swindon and Fairford for the past 18 months, so I have travelled from Solihull to Wiltshire/Gloucestershire many times. It's a nice part of the world.
