P38A The dreaded Traction Control & ABS Fault lights.

And..... in true Tommy Cooper style "Just Like that" the ABS/TC fault is gone. :)
It must be a connectivity thing because I have not touched anything (yet).
Stuck the key in the ignition today and no beeps. No lights, no warnings on the dash.
So it must be the OSF sensor wiring.
 
Had this been remedied? Along with every fault known to man and on landyzone's r us, I've had this very same problem. Every step seemed to solve it momentarily just as above. It turned out to be the wiring inside the moulded connector to the loom. A pure fluke showed it up. I effected a temporary repair with a connector block which, thus far, had turned out to be permanent.

And........the fault is back. :(
It reappeared directly after a long drive in pouring rain the other week.
NANOCOM says "No faults Found", nothing in the faults log on the ECU, no "clues" available.
Looked at the "at rest" volts on the sensors with NANOCOM and all are the same at 2.32 or 2.33Volts.

Sounds like the identical issue to mine
 
And while the fault went away again for a few weeks it is now back.
Nanocom reports "Short to other 12 times"; and Voltage for OSF is 0.0v whereas all of the others are at 2.3v.
3rd New OSF sensor ordered.
I will measure the resistance of the new one vs. the old one. I think the one in there has gone Open-Circuit.
Part should be here today/tomorrow. :)

I bought a used ecu off ebay as a backup incase mine ever broked. I had that same error and concluded the ecu was duff. Got money back no quibble, seller didn't ask for the ecu back so assume he knew it was duff and was trying his luck
I have (in the past) swapped the L & R front sensors over and the fault has moved to the new location of the failed sensor (i.e. from OSF to NSF).
The proper LR sensors are something like £79.99 whereas the All Makes ones are £19.99. I wonder if there is a reason why its failed 3 times on the same corner?
IF it is the sensor, that's just bad luck. If the sensor is OK then maybe I have a wiring problem on the OSF wiring loom.
I think that the last time I measured volts at the plugs for each of the front sensors both were 5.3v (a common logic level as I recall).
It does smell like a wiring fault as the fault has come and gone twice without me changing anything, but I will change the sensor anyway and see what happens.
 
Interesting read, it occurs to me that you could have a wire or plug fault or exposure to moisture (it’s that time of year and you mentioned rainy drives) that is resulting in damage to the sensor. Then if you move the sensor the fault goes with it even if it was damaged on the OS. If the electrical set up is such that it fails at age or in wet conditions this could be the issue. Also when you drive it’s ok but stop it’s failure time, had an oil pressure sensor that did the same as it’s broken wire would swing forward when braking an trip the fault.

OK, so it gets more odd by the day.
Yesterday I put the cars ignition on and surprisingly no immediate ABS/TC error messages, just the lights waiting for me to move >7kph.
Drove up the road, all lights out no errors. Got to a main junction with a sleeping policeman right at the function and as I touched the brakes to stop "Boom!" full on ABS activity on the OSF wheel and errors came up.
That suggests the OSF started out "working" hit the ramp of the sleeping policeman while braking and then it lost the "wheel is turning" signals for the wheel so slammed on the ABS.
I got the new sensor this morning, surprisingly it came W/O new copper sleeves. If it doesn't rain over the W/E I will fit the new sensor.
I measured the new sensor for resistance ...1200 Ohms, so if the one on there is showing Open-Circuit when unplugged it must be faulty.

Let me tell you how the ABS Sensor replacement went. :)

Popped the bonnet, pulled the connector, stuck the Multimeter across the sensor, "Open Circuit" - as expected. :)
Chock wheels, jack car up a bit loosen wheel nuts. Jack up a lot more place axle stand under axle tube, remove wheel.
Go looking for the new sensor. Not in the car, not in my study, not in the kitchen. The box has just "vanished".

"Oh, I thought it was empty, I threw it out with the recycling rubbish that was collected this morning, sorry." :oops:
