the difference between XS and ES?

Hi Ive got a disco1 V8efi XS, second to top of the range beaten only by the ES I believe if my sources are to be believed. are they correct? and also apart from electric sunroofs and air con in the back, how else am i missing out? cheers

My ES V8(Premium, whatever that means) has electric seats both for heating and adjustment, multi changer CD, electric mirrors, heated front screen, front foglights, running boards, lots of wood type trim and an auto dipping mirror. Colour is Westminster Green, not seen any others around here in that colour. Not sure if these were model specific but a few more things to compare!

So far it only fills with water if I leave the roofs open

My XS doesn't have SLS(self leveling suspension) on the rear so I do miss a lot of problems , and no seats in the trunk.

My '97R 300Tdi ES doesn't have any wood trim - I've been cheated! Does let rain onto the back seat though.

my 95 es has no wood, no elec seats and front sun roof doesnt work and no front fogs i was defo cheated. nice comfy seats though

Xs has half leather and Land Rover logo fabric seats with the grab handle's. Es has powered full leather, no grab handle's and seperate head rest's.
Also the wheels are different Xs has silver deep dish and the Es has grey tornado wheels.
Xs has full length Xs decal on the lower half of the doors and rear valance.


No D1 has self-leveling suspension as standard.

mines a base model (ish) don't really matter though as I get 32mpg and it runs a dream, no I don't have leaky sunroofs (yet?) but IMO the more electronics you have the more there is to go wrong, ask any P38 owner, stick to base and you can probably mend it without a pc.

My XS doesn't have half leather. Doesn't even have a leather steering wheel. It has a tiny little bit of crappy wood veneer around the central air-vents. If this was an option, then it must be Land Rovers idea of a joke?

My mate's XS has 1/2 Leather.

My '97 300 tdi had all the bits described but not running boards. Full leather but without grab handles. My '01 td5 es has all the bits but has grab handles on the leather front seats, no running boards and oddly no rear step. My folding mirrors don't electrically fold anymore though!
