Firstly this is my first posting, so hello one and all.
Now my 03 Discovery facelift TD5 has "developed" a quirky habit of flashing the oil warning light when descending a hill when I need to slow down. ( Camera etc). Now this only happens on the odd occasion, but it sure as hell doesn't do much for the old "dicky ticker" Other than this the engine still pulls like the proverbial, and I would have thought if the pump was on the way out it would have gone by now. Anyway knowing the oil level is correct, I removed the filler cap just to check if any discolouring, and it was completely DRY.
Very strange me thinks.
Anyone got a simple, or complicated for that matter, answer?

Has it always done this, or is it a recent thing? If recent, any recent work been done?

I went to a call out many moons ago for a customer who had the oil light come on when idling.
Turns out he'd had the oil change done at a tyre place who I won't name, but they'd left the cellophane on the filter bottom, which was preventing oil from flowing to the engine, with the exception of a tiny split in the cellophane, which burst under the pressure.

Just when you think you've heard it all!
