TD5 Locks--Let me down!!

After constantly telling everyone that my TD5 was really reliable, don't believe what they say about Land rovers, it's just jumped up and bitten me.
I go to lock the doors with the 'plip' and more often that not now it'll beep the horn at me and not lock. If I then use the key to manually lock, it beeps, locks the drivers door but not the others. Try it again and it behaves normally then......!
I think its rather that it thinks I haven't closed one of the doors properly. I suspect its a door sensor somewhere but where are they? They're not switches in the door pillars anymore.
Anyone got any ideas, had the same?:confused:
 
This is normally caused by the bonnet switch, disconnect it and try again.

The door switches are inside the door latches and are part of the latch, they don't normally give trouble though

Fatal mistake - don't ever tell anyone, or even think about it if you can help it:D
 
Hi Clutchdust. Thanks for the clue. I would never have thought of that one first off! Just removed the switchand so far the locks are behaving.
Is it a faulty switch or something down the line getting the wrong message on this one? (i.e can I put a new switch in)

And yes, I should know better than tempt (Land Rover) fate:D
 
Right--latest news!
Apart from the central locking problem, I began to notice one or two other oddities. The cigarette lighter stayed live after the ignition was switched off and the interior light didn't come on when I switched off the engine. At this stage £ signs with lots of 0's started appearing so being a scientist (for my sins) I thought think logically and try to think of any event or action at the time the symptoms started to appear.
The only thing I could think of as unusual was that I wanted to recharge a completely discharged LED type torch, so had plugged it into the spare socket in the boot. I'd then left it plugged in although it didn't seem to want to recharge. Could it be? I unplugged it and result----well, Result! so far everything appears to have returned to normality, though I'll need a few more days to be convinced.
Moral of the story? With the increasing use of electronics, do you know what you're plugging into your car? :confused: :confused:
