I want to put locks on my doors (drivers, passengers and the tail). The photo shows one of the existing door handles, and part of a door.
I did have a call with Paddocks, and I was asked whether there was a pre-drilled hole in the door (which i was told was important if i wanted to add a lock).
1) First of all, i am confused about the hole - as there seems to be a giant pre-shaped hole for the handle - does it need an additional hole for the lock?
2) secondly, is it possible to add a lock to my existing door handles, or do i have to buy full replacements.
I was told there was an issue with getting matching keys, which would also be annoying.

Your door [drivers] is shaped to accept a locking handle.
On Series it was often the the case that only the drivers door and rear safari door could be locked.
A basic push in pin like the one on series 2a door tops secured the passenger side.
You don't say model you have. It is possible to get paired sets. Or just buy a set of barrels that use the same key and replace ones in handle's.

Hello, Maurizio here from Rome, Italy.

I have a similar issue.
LHD Discovery 2 V8

I have had to disable keyless entry as the immobilizer was having fits.
I can now enter only from the driver's door (left side), turn/twist key in the old school fashion.
At this point, to keep things safe, I would like to know if I can fit a lock to my passenger's front door (right side).
Can the tailgate also be equipped with a lock?
I don't mind a different key, although perhaps with the VIN (chassis) number, I could have it precut?
Are new locks "programmable" as happens to BMWs and other high brand motorcycles?

Thank you

I only have a second ‘barrel’ hole in the drivers door for the key.
If your not interested in originality you could try the old garage door bolt fix. Far more secure than the Land Rover lock. They fit quite nicely snugged up to the doors cross frame.

I may be missing something but could the answer to both questions be to fit locks from the opposite Drive vehicle ?
Don't think any lock available for Disco'2 rear tailgate. Did Discovery 1 have one ?
Also Maurizio you may want to try drying out the keyless receiver under the headliner.

Thank you.

Shedload, that is exactly what I meant.
I have a LHD Disco and was inquiring on a RHD lock, so that I may enter the vehicle from either side.

So if you buy a RHS door lock and fit in place of your current passenger lock I think that should answer your problem.
Of course you will need to check your current lock to see what parts you need. Barrels are available from specialists that will match your current key, but of course this comes at a price.
The Disco' 2 locks are largely mechanical so are not programmable.
