As we all know the air-intake on a TD4 comes from under the RH side wheel-arch. Not too clever of you're going wading !:D

An easy temp fix is to disconnect the trunking at the engine bay valance and turn the pipe on the engine ducting to point towards the rear of the engine-bay.

That gives you an intake at just below bonnet height rather than at wheel height.

I soaked the air-filter a year or so back, and did consider a snorkel at the time - but for short periods when there are floods and unexpected deep puddles to negotiate this is a quick fix.

if the water was that deep and up to the top wing im not sure i would want to attempt going through ,

I wasn't meaning that you could go through water up to the bonnet - just that it might prevent sucking water in through the wheel-arch intake.

If you hit an unexpected 6" deep water-splash at speed it's highly likely that some water will find it's way to the air-filter and feck it up.

I wouldn't deliberately enter water deeper than about 16".
