Tarting up FL1

I wouldn't bother with colour coding unless you've time to smooth out all the bumpers and do a decent spray job... spraying them without smoothing them will just look bad.

I'd go for the bumper upgrade or black bumpers if i were you. depends how much time and money you want to spend really. The bumpers are nice, but you won't get your money back from the upgrade... but if you're planning on keeping the car till something big goes bust then it's a nice upgrade really.

The pic of the blue freeby you posted was a concept i think, none for sale and certainly can't get hold of that bodykit anywhere.

Thanks. Can the grey plastic be sprayed or treated to go black? I do like the bumper upgrade but that no cheap to do well and im slightly put off with wiring the h/lights. My motor is pretty immaculate to look at and drive and I cant see whats wrong with that - im not an offroader (stress, nothing against offroaders). I cant see any combination of going bust that i wouldnt get fixed - thats the reality of a car that you elect to own. our main vehicle is late VW oil burner so I know what reliable is. Anyhow, the freeby on the end of the link is somebodys view of what looks good and I like some of the touches to the front end - not so much the colour.

Vinylkote used to sell a product called bumpercote which recoloured the platic & didn't flake off. Unfortunately vinylkote seem to be trade only now though Halfords do stock a very similar if not the same stuff under their own name. I used the vinyl version to recolour part of my BMW interior black & it works superbly though was expensive at £10 per can. I'm sure they did a product for the bumpers as well, but don't use just paint. You need the stuff which actually chemically bonds to the plastic & changes the colour, it will last a lot better.

CrewB,I think I know your hippo, saw it parked outside a friends house, she reckons it belongs to her lodger.

Haha, you'd be right there. Was over in blackrock, though i've now moved into a nice apartment in blackpool.

It's looking a bit of a mess at the moment and needs some attention to the paintwork and body panels. And not to forget the wing mirror cover.

I've an underground space now though so will get to work on it pretty soon.

if you really must have a tart wagon like that one in the pic's,why not paint it blue and tint the windows for a start.also if you look at chromiumuk's avatar,it seems to have alot of blue in it.you might be able to get one from a breakers.

NI'er im really starting to like the idea of going nato green,it would cover up the graffiti my 5yr old son scratched all along the pass side with a metal toy hand gun, back when he was practicing his name in the mucky panels.

My motor is monaco blu - not a great colour for FL and i prefer Chromiumiks shade of which seems same as the link. looking again its the tinted windows and the wheels that grate rather than colour. I wont be happy till FL2 (thats me trouble) but meantime liking more changing to black plastic which looks much sharper especially off the blue paintwork. Cheers.

Hate to disappoint guys, but it's just an avatar. My motors bog standard. Ask Muply for advice re the 04 on upgrade. He got a much better price for one he was selling because it looked brilliant even though it was the unpopular 1.8 petrol. He might even be able to help out with some bits at reasonable prices as he did work in the salvage trade, but I'm not sure if he still does.
