Hi all sorry to start another tailgate problem thread but I've searched through , but can't find anything with this problem.
I have a 2002 4 door Td4.
Heres the Problem: Front doors open but tailgate will not, even the tailgate window does not lower as it should when you are trying to open the tailgate at this point either. I have to I disconnect the battery for 5 mins then the tailgate will open but the tailgate window will not open I have to manually roll the window motor down ( take off motor housing and turn it by hand ),Then I can re-calibrate the window and everything works fine again, but after a day or two the problem comes back  any help thanks.

Try lubricating the window rubber seal with silicone spray or vaseline/washing up liquid ...if this helps then probably the pressure of the glass on the seal too great, this can be adjusted.

As he says ^^^^^.
Does the window raise & lower using the switch on the centre console when the tailgate door is closed ?? If so.............

Maybe the micro switch (es) in the tailgate handle are playing up....check with a multimeter.
If the glass raises & lowers using the console switch, the relay (Located behind the r.h. loadspace lower trim) is probably working ok.

:tea:

Thanks for the responses I did a reset just yesterday ( Disconnect battery and re-calibrate the window) Brack I will try lubing the rubber seal and Irishrover I will check the micro switch, again thanks.

I bodged mine as it was doing that too, put a glass sucker on rear window, got wife to hold down switch on dashboard, whilst I put all my weight on the glass sucker, it pulled the glass down a few milometers, enough to clear the channel, which means I can open and close the rear door, the downside is the car thinks the window is open, so rear wiper does not work, the car "beeps" once when locking using the fob, and a trickle of water comes in if it rains, as the cubby box gets damp anyway I can live with all of that, I couldn't live with the rear door not opening
