Saw a car either eyeing up my landy or just having a very good look last night.
When he saw me in bedroom window he drove off.
Got me thinking, could we set up a section or some sort of way of posting these to see if there is a pattern of the same vehicles eyeing up our landys?
Would it cause problems to post details of car and Reg on here? Obviously they may be innocent?
Any thoughts?

Ok, it was the driver eyeing it up... was a brand new black disco with loads of parts on it. Looked pretty nice with lots of shiny parts.
Would part of the Reg be ok? Last 4 digits for example?
whilst most of us get twitchy at a motor "eyeing" ours up ,could it be a previos owner ?. If you have reg no. I sugest report it to police + disable motor when you park up for night.(make it harder to nick)

and defo go for the full reg number - they are plain and easy to see on the front & back of the suspect car anyway, therefore, are in the public domain.

That's what I thought. Reg numbers are not secret. It may just help build a picture. Especially as if the same car is seen elsewhere doing same thing.
Maybe we need a landy watch type site if there isn't one already. Could link maps into it too to see stolen cars on a map, and also where they were recovered. Perhaps I just found a new use for my spare time...

Just purchased the domain landywatch.co.uk so will get something set up. Any suggestions for the site or anyone willing to help please send me a pm.

Remember it could just be someone having a look. I Have been known to knock on the front door of a classic landie owner to ask them for five minutes of their time for a chin wag...

I think its a good idea, get a better idea of who is taking the most interest in landys, but could you not get around the reg number by posting car, make, model and area then if a similar car is seen in the area you could send a pm to confirm reg. I have seen loads eye mine up but generally don't have a problem even tho i know people are coming up the driveway as ive found two bunches of keys by the side.

Be nice to get the reg of the fooker that nicked £100 worth of diesel out of my Disco along with a cheap headunit and my brand new CB and aerial a couple of weeks ago.
Fooking pikeys

I was thinking of making the suspicious car section only for registered members. That way the inclusion of the reg number would not be available on the web for non registered members.

that might be an idea, but i would definitely look into legal side of things first just in case.

I would report it as a suspicious incident and ask to speak with one of your neighbourhood officer. They should put an intelligence report in regarding this. Might just be a missing bit of the puzzle.

:)

I look suspisious when in out working at night. driving slowly along roads shining a torch at houses trying to see numbers. But i do think that a landy watch is a good idea. If get enough members could even approach insurance firms, tracker firms and the like for discounts for members? Could get some flyers made up and when anyone sees a landie either hand it to owner, or pop one under wiper. admit most people just chuch them on floor, but i atleast have a quick read first. if it somethig im interested in will keep it

Rik just put a post up on your site sorry dude put it in the wrong section .

Must learn to read

Rik i have just registered as am looking at buying cheap landies/disco's for resale some you can spot as sus but be good to have a bit more info at my fingertips are you allowing pics of stolen landies aswell showing stuff people could use to identify because if you are beware then the info might be used by the enemy aswell!Better to keep some stuff back to make the final ident just my opinion!
