Hi guys advise needed please
as i arived home the front nearside has a hissing sound and drops the suspension to the bottom however i reset with a plug in reset tool and it comes back to normal, i lifted it to hi and it was ok then returned it to normal all ok then when i park up and take the key out the hissing returns and drops it to the stops on the front only any ideas would be aprieciated.

Air bag probably split or leaking from the seals ?

How old is the car ?

Very easy to replace the suspension strut.

£300 for Dunlop one
Or £650 for genuine land rover

Let it fill up with air and try to see / feel where the hissing is coming from

Good luck

Its a 2004 vogue it only apears to be leaking when i tur it off?

Well quickly check it when you turn it off.

Or feel around with engine on, you should feel the leak ****ing out

90 percent sure the bag is probably leaking
Mine went a few weeks ago

And mine is a 2002 so time for replacement as they where the originals

Pressure relief valve is in the boot next to the compressor

That would effect all of the suspension not just one wheel

Plus you wouldn't hear it leaking near the wheel

thanks for the advise hippo ive ordered a dunlop strut is there anything i need to know when fitting it

haha you mean your just presuming ?? you didnt check >? :jaw:

oh well, wont do it any harm changing it :)

its a 2 man job really when fitting as you need someone to hold the weight of the strut while you connect the air line and fit the bolts at the top underneath the bonnet.

they are pretty heavy ! around 30kg :D]

shouldn't need calibrating after but it may need re-setting that requires a diagnostics.

haven't you all ready got your own diagnostics kit ?? its a must have for any range rover owner :)

where are you located in this world ?

northampton ive got a cousin i can call on if i get stuck ive looked at the procedure on rave it didnt seem to bad

good stuff, you will need a helping hand believe me.

as long as you don't get any stubborn rusted nuts you will be ok.

i found it a lot easier than i thought it was going to be :)

just when taking out the old strut, make sure you support it well and slowly release it out of the wheel arch as there is a delicate air line screwed onto the top and it is hard wired to the air system so don't break it off as its not easily replaced !

once you take off your wheel and go to disconnect the strut you will also need a small jack to take the weight of the roll bar link between the two front wheels as the weight of the other wheel will stop you from releasing the link to the strut.

unless of course you have two large lifts to jack the whole front of the car up so as to take the weight off both front wheels ? ;)
