Stuck door handles

Whats best to put on the handles of a p38 to stop them freezing and jamming-had problems this morning!

would de icer do it?

on the handles i would say wd40 to expel water, heat em up first with warm water, then give em a good coating. also furniture polish helps stop things sticking. give the door rubber a good coating!

What about silicon spray on the door seals?

should be fine i would imagine, anything to for a soft layer rather than an iced up water solid layer that can rip door rubbers

the central locking keeps freezing up on mine so even when i unlock the doors they still wont open and when they do 3 seconds later they lock themselves again. i got locked init before and had to wait 20mins while the car warmed up i heard a thud noise in the door and the locks came poping up lol.

Thats exactly what i had. The central locking would not open from inside-it would pop up for a second and then go back down. Started to work ok when car warmed up.

best way to stop your door handles freezing up is to move to a place thats warmer than here :hysterically_laughi

mine back door was stuck this morning as well, tried deicer but that couldnt get into the handle..

There must be more solutions than this, surely. My P38 is parked in a frost pocket, and now I think the door release cable has snapped so I have to open the drivers door from outside with the window down

I've tried WD40, but think it's an 'internal' problem with the lock mechanism. It does thaw, but you can't always wait 20mins for the deicer to work.

What if you're parked on a mountainside and the deicer is in the car... :doh:

U can by a little lock heater key ring with a hot probe in it, that arnt expensive!

I got one for christmas about 8 years ago and threw it away since , :doh:

Nah had two aaa batteries.

for any lube to work you first need to remove any moisture ie ice water ect so try drying it out as much as you can then you can use any oil base product to stop them freezing up any non water base prod should do the job ive used cooking oil before now when ive had nothing else to hand a lite cote on window rubbers works great ive seen some use washing liq but as its water based they made it worst when nice and dry in the locks get some 3 in one oil in there

keep a can of de-icer in the house and spray 15mins before wanting to open doors
