I went to change oil today and found out that the sump plug is absolutely solid, i decided to stop and consult rather than keep on going until something failed, has anyone got any tips to increase my chances of getting it loose without damaging the sump threads etc, The plug itself is still in good order, not rounded off etc, I had a look at previous posts but was not confident about attempting them, hammer and chisel was popular but could be dodgy with an alloy sump

Did mine today and it was stuck solid, good socket and a bit of help from a tapping stick and it freed ok.

Use a 6 point socket (hexagonal) rather than a 12 point one and you will have less chance of rounding the bolt head.

Massive breaker bar, if that fails massive breaker bar with a extension of scaffold pole, if that fails breaker bar and a HAMMER! Don't think i would wanna heat a sump plug to much
