Are there any benefits from changing to a straight through exhaust? I’ve searched a few threads on here and there isn’t much about it.

I know it sound like a chavvy thing to do, but I was following a 200tdi 90 the other day and the sound was beautiful. It was just pure power you could hear coming from it! Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t a boy racer bean tin exhaust.

Does it put that much power back in the engine or is it not worth doing?

Done the pump. Surely the mid box and back box cant do that much good for power. To be fair, i dont know how they work, maybe i should of googled it before posting.

my down pipe popd off one time at a pay and play day and me been lazy i didnt bother to bolt it back up for another 2 days , the truck didnt feel any faster just sounded live a chav lol

un bolt your down pipe and just leave it hanging and try it up the road and see what you think

Don't diesels need some back pressure like petrol?, if so a straight through exhaust won't do, you will need boxes and baffles not a problem if you have a sports system like Janspeed or similar fitted they still have baffles but a better exhaust flow.

i must admit i thought turbo engines were not interewsted in back pressure, cos the turbo messes up any exhaust characteristics that would otherwise have been, so therefore its simply about getting rid of the gasses. unless thats just turbo petrols, but after the turnbo i cant really see any difference in the engine design...

hmmm

straight through fot turbos you dont need back pressure as you say mr noisy ,tuned system to help draw exhaust out on air in isnt needed on forced air,

turbo lumps are better with less back pressure - they need to get the gasses out as free as poss - it wont make it an faster noticably only the pump tweaks will do that - but the less exhaust youve got the less youve got to lose off road an it sure does sound crackin with minimal or no silencing
