I know I know, do a search!

I have both here and all over the web but I cant seem to find an absolute answer, just opinnions.

So Please,

What is the largest tyre that I can fit on a Defender 90 without doing any alterations/modifications? no lifting, no cutting, no steering adjustment, on the stock 16" wheel.

Also will this tyre fit on the spare mount on the bulkhead of the truck cab ?

Thanks.:frusty:

Will the wheels for a;

R R Classic > 87 - 95
Defender 90 > 94-97
fit my 98 Defender 90 300tdi?

Thanks.

They should all technically fit the hubs. Hole size and PCD are the same ...

The wheel offsets might be different so might affect which tyres, at the larger sizes, will fit with no mods. Steel wheels need different nuts than Alloy wheels though, the Alloys have a shoulder, the steels have a chamfer.

So many variables it's impossible to say yes or no and be accurate, but it's mostly yes to standard OEM wheels ... ;)

why dont you wanna lift it out of interest? if you want bigger tyre sizes a 2 inch spring lift will give you far more options!

I would like to install a 2 inch lift but I read that lifting does more damage than not with bushings and bearings.
Is this true?
If not, what 2"lift kit do you recommend and is this something that I can install myself with basic tools?
AND, If I did install the 2" lift, what is the largest tire that I can fit after installed?

Sorry for all the questions but the thing is I need to know exactly what to order as I have to import and pay duty/tax on everything that comes into the country, would really be ****ty to import 4 wheels and tyres only to find out they don't fit .

Thanks again!

yes a lift will result in bushes wearing etc, but if you get the correct correction on the various bits you wont have as much of an issue. many of us over here run lifts!

as for what one, i am soon going to be using bearmach blue springs and terrafirma shocks on both my 110 and the rangey, these are supposed to be pretty good, and from the ones i have seen they perform pretty well

Could you not get the bits fitted in the UK prior to the landy being sent to you? Surely that would help reduce the impact of the import cost.

Lifting yer landy is a bit hit and miss. Some people have done it with no problems at all. Other have found it to cause lots of other problems.
