right then grrrr.... just about had enough!

how in gods name do you get the steering wheel of in one piece?

i have tried everything including a bearing puller and the bugger wont move an inch!

I need to change my heater motor so dash out job but can't shift it, which god do i need to pray to or what have i got to sacrifice to get it free!

also if your in the know i noticed something strange... my steering wheel in the straight ahead position points to about 10 o'clock which i put down tothe previous clown doing the tracking but i noticed a few days ago that the steering lock is on when the wheel is pointing at 6 o'clock. is his because one track rod end is way out?

thanks all:D

small amount of movement can be taken up on drag link by adjusting as track rod but if you need more you can remove steering linkage from box to column and refit in right place

When i tried this i couldnt get the joint to open enough to release the splines to rotate the wheel to the right place any advise on what to do? im new to all this and dont want to force anything and snap it as its my daily driver

Awsome thanks buster your walk through guides are like a bible keep up the good work!

When you say wiggle any amount of force involved is is it just a wd 40 and wiggle.

you should change your name to buster god of landrovers;)

As said above, try stickin' a large screwdriver in the slots if they're accessible. Mines took a wee bit of wiggling and pulling to get thum off! Remember to stick some copper grease on the shafts when ye stick it back together;)

Easy remove the stalks then hit the wheel from the back as close to the centre as you can with a big hammer.
Move it round a bit then hit again repeat till it comes off.

Works for me anyway. And i have been doing that way for years.
