Hello yet again! Never posted so much on a website lol.

Anyway if anyone can point me in the right direction to sort out this prob I've got.
2001 td4 freelander, month or so ago had car suddenly not start. Got a guy to look at it, he said diagnostics said Hp pump. He ended up fitting a refurbed one plus new lp pump in the tank.
So week or so later, driving along the engine management light came on and went down to like reduced power mode, but after the light stayed on but power came back. He put diagnostics on but no issue came up?!
Since this I've lost power again, it's like there's no turbo.
I've found oil in the air pipes/ inter cooler pipes, I've checked all hoses can't find any rips, wrapped them in tape to make sure, changed turbo solenoid and whist checking the filter and lift pump by the wing under bonnet, I managed to snap one pipe off the 5 way connector valve like a complete nob head so replaced it but now having problems getting it to start, it cranks over, sometimes will start after 2 lots of trying or totally not at all. Starts every time with quick squirt of Ez spray and runs ok ish, but now if I've put my foot down a little bit to get it moving its cutting out whilst I'm going along, almost like its flooded with fuel or something.

So if anyone can tell me what to check or confirm to 'pay a visit' to the mechanic ;)
Or option 3 of petrol can and matches and use it as a bbq.

Thanks guys

Have you checked the rail sensor for corrosion, this is a prime candidate for running issues. The HP regulator O rings is a common cause of non start issues.
I'm assuming both lift pumps are running ok when the key is first turned?

Hi again nodge68,
yes i can hear both pumps working when first turn key, i havent touched the hp pump as the mechanic said i needed a special tool so things dont get f~*ked up when removing it

If you want to remove the HP then you need the gear retainer, shaft splitter tool. However your problem is probably the HP pump regulator which is on the end of the pump. There's no need to remove the pump to replace the regulator O rings.
Also check the rail sensor for corrosion. ;)
