No idea, maybe he will inform?

RAVE comes off the net, assuming he can access a printer. And a reprint manual could be mailed form the UK if required.

I am an amateur when it comes to this department. I do not have either of those or do not even know what hose are.

Gentlemen I cannot thank you all enough for the advice. I just need to know where to start looking. So I can narrow it down from it being in the engine area and focus on other. So I will clean it up get some pictures and go from there. Please have patience with me to take care of this as I am a little slower at catching on but have the determination. So start with the transfer box and oil level of it??

Check all fluid levels, change fluids would be even better. Grease UJs and anything else greasable. And download RAVE manual, or order reprint manual from Brooklands books for bedtime reading.

Should get you on the right track. And try and change your fuel filter and set the tappets when you get a chance.

Post photos when possible, and keep us informed of progress! :)

And Dippy is a wimmins, not a Gentleman.;)

Thank you kind sir, I'm sure he'll have found out eventually ...

Only problem with that is , that AFAIK the Rave manual only covers 300tdi onwards, so you would have to allow for that slight difference when looking at the work to be done.
Rave can be found here tho, For information.

Sure you are right. I just have the printed book, He will have to order form Brooklands and get one shipped.

Think that might be for a 2.5TD, not Tdi, could be just my incompetence.

This is the official Defender workshop manual which covers 90, 110 and 130 vehicles up to and including 200Tdi models. Engines covered are 2.25, 2.5 and 3.5 V8 petrols as well as 2.25, 2.5N/A, 2.5TD and 200Tdi diesels.

You need to take notice of our lovely Dipps, as she likes things to be well lubricated
However, one point to raise is that you haven't yet said if you have stopped the enjine after it has been squeeling and then got down and dirty feeling your belts!
If they are warm, it points to a failing pulley bearing.
Just sayin!

I didn't see anything on the belts because I still went 5 more miles so I wasn't stranded. The belts didn't seem bad. I can't take pictures of those. I think it has something to do with the drive shafts. I also noticed the two bolts missing on my clutch housing. Do not know how long that has been gone. Can I put matching boots in on those or are they suppose to be prefabbed bolts?

This one there is splash back. But from where. I see nothing to where the fluid came from.

Little bit more of the fluid. Fluid smells burnt. Like something is burnt.

The two missing bolts on the clutch housing. Will this cause issues? Can I replace with two sized bolts?

it wont cause any issues as long as the other bolts are secure, its why they are missing which is more interesting, the stud youd need are te110061l plus m10 nuts and washers
